How I Got Shoes came to be.
Charity incorporated
Founded as ROC Chelmsford / Restoring Community to support local and international causes.
Charity Commission registration
Registered with the Charity Commission (No. 1160896).
Governing documents updated
Updated our constitution to better reflect our growing mission.
Rebranded as I Got Shoes
Refocused entirely on Uganda education mission. Penny Seithel appointed as Chair.
First major fundraising year
Income grew from £18k to £39k as our community expanded.
Income reached £51k
First school fees paid directly to families in Uganda.
Record year
Income reached £70k. Expanded Uganda operations significantly.
Continued growth
£51k income, 15 volunteers, 7 trustees. Stronger than ever.
Lottery launched
Launched our charity lottery to support sustainable, long-term fundraising.
Why shoes?
In Uganda, many children cannot attend school without proper shoes and uniforms — it is a barrier to education that a small donation can overcome. Without shoes, children are often turned away from school or are at risk of injury and illness. By providing shoes, we open the door to learning and a brighter future.
